{"id":157,"date":"2010-01-14T17:04:06","date_gmt":"2010-01-14T21:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leahyinstitute.org\/?page_id=157"},"modified":"2010-01-14T17:52:40","modified_gmt":"2010-01-14T21:52:40","slug":"brood-in-the-night","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/leahyinstitute.org\/?page_id=157","title":{"rendered":"Brood in the Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Brood in the Night<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>\u00a0<\/h1>\n<p>While I sat one night brooding, perplexed and exuding, deep sighs of dejection and gloom,<\/p>\n<p>I was smitten once more by that beast and that bore that men in despair have called doom,<\/p>\n<p>So my book I neglected for my mind had defected to be buried and sealed in her tomb,<\/p>\n<p>To obtain her affection was my lonely intention, felicity I dared not assume.<\/p>\n<p>I considered and perused all the ruses I had used, and remembered every syllable she had uttered.<\/p>\n<p>With embarrassment I winced, recollecting unveiled hints, \u201cDamn her to hell!\u201d I bitterly muttered.<\/p>\n<p>So I opened up my book, but the characters I mistook for Chinese for I held it upside down.<\/p>\n<p>With a jerk and a thrash, the book was thrown into the trash, and I sat there staring with a frown.<\/p>\n<p>I attempted to ignore, this woman I adore. I bade her a tender adieu.<\/p>\n<p>But apparently in vain, for all else seemed inane.
